Hoppy Swirls Frog Review - BAB

The BAB frogs are probably one of the most popular and hyped BABs of all time. If you've ever held one it's easy to understand why. Not only are they absolutely adorable but they are made of some of the SOFTEST faux fur out there! It's makes them just so cuddly!

The new Hoppy Swirls Frog is no exception to the frogs cuteness or softness. I was definitely concerned that with a multi color design instead of a solid the quality of the fabric may have gone down. That being said while I do love the fabric these guys are made out of it sadly does not hold up the best over time. It wears down, both visibly showing the wear and becoming less soft, pretty quickly with regular cuddling. I do feel though the multi color swirl pattern will hide some of that and at least make it look less visibly warn over time than previous frogs.

One of the cool things about these frogs is each one has a completely unique pattern and no two frogs will ever be identical. I really love when BABs have unique patterns as it makes each one extra special and I think more exciting from a collecting standpoint. However, I'm incredibly disappointed for this to be an online only release. When you have a plush that everyone has a unique pattern I think it's really important to give people the opportunity to pick out the design of their BAB. I am extremely pleased with the color placement on mine, but I know not everyone is, and there are definitely some I don't particularly enjoy the color placement on. I also feel as though the stock photo on the website is mildly deceptive. The one pictured there is primarily blueish-purple. In real life all of the frogs seem to have a significant more amount of tealish-green on them and far less of the blue-purple the website shows. I feel as though they definitely could have chosen an image that more accurately portrayed the colors of majority of the frogs.

One small detail I also appreciated on this one is the signature BAB paw patch. On the green frogs these are red. On the Hoppy swirls they made it blue, which really melds nicely with the colors on the frog and I feel like red would have clash in an unpleasant way.

The frog is generally well constructed. There were only two things I noticed that weren't great. First the butt seam on my frog isn't rounded like the other frogs giving him a very pointed booty. Though it's quite hilarious and adorable in its own right. Secondly, the frogs head comes prestuffed with the low quality crunchy stuffing. There's a very small hole between the body and the head to keep the stuffing in place which makes removing the crunchy stuffing difficult and take a long time. Additionally there's thread sculpting in the head that gives the frog is face shape. And while I love thread sculpting it makes removing the crunch stuffing even harder than it already is. I really wish they would prestuff with the good cluster stuffing.

Overall the hoppy swirls frog is a great addition to the frog line, just as good quality as the pervious frogs, and its exciting to see them switch it up from the solid color frogs we've seen so far. Here's hoping BAB continues to expand their frog line with many more colors. (Come on pastel rainbow frog!)
